Never worry about insufficient funds again

Overdraft protection through NGFCU offers peace of mind that checks, ACH and debit card transactions will be paid even when there is not enough money in your checking account.

This service automatically transfers funds from your NGFCU Personal Line of Credit, savings account or money market account with no transfer fee. The transfer is recorded on your monthly statement and you can use your NGFCU online banking account anytime to check your account balances.

Fee-free transfers

Overdraft protection provides several benefits to NGFCU members:

  • Protects you from the fees and inconvenience associated with NSF checks and ACH.
  • Automatically transfers funds to cover overdrafts from your choice of accounts.
  • Use up to four accounts as overdraft sources.
  • Transfers are fee-free; interest accrues on Personal Line of Credit on the amounts advanced.
  • Transfers recorded on monthly statements.
  • Funds transfer information available anytime through online banking.

Overdraft protection is easy to set up

To set up overdraft protection for an existing NGFCU account, log in to your online banking account, click the Services tab, then click on Overdraft Protection in the left navigation menu.

You can also set up overdraft protection by contacting us at 800-633-2848, Monday through Friday, 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Pacific.

Courtesy Pay

Courtesy Pay helps protect you from the unpaid return of non-sufficient funds (NSF) items presented on your NGFCU checking account and allows you to take withdrawals using your ATM or Visa ATM/Debit card when funds are not available.

  • Non-sufficient funds transactions paid up to $500 including Courtesy Pay fees
  • $20 Courtesy Pay fee for each non-sufficient funds transaction paid
  • Non-sufficient funds transactions paid and fees reported on statements

Courtesy Pay for checks and for Automated Clearing House (ACH) transactions is automatically available to all NGFCU members with a checking account in “good standing” that has been open for at least 60 days. The account must receive regular deposits sufficient to cover transactions, have a positive balance at least once every 30 days or less, and have no outstanding legal orders.

Opt In to apply Courtesy Pay to debit and ATM transactions

NGFCU members must opt in to Courtesy Pay for everyday debit and ATM card transactions. If you do not opt in or do not have another type of overdraft protection, and if you do not have sufficient available funds for an ATM withdrawal or for a debit or ATM card purchase, the transaction will be denied.

You can opt in by submitting the Courtesy Pay Opt-In form, or by contacting NGFCU at 800-633-2848, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Pacific.
