SCRA offers financial protection benefits, so you don’t have to worry when you're away.
What is the SCRA?
The Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA) is designed to protect members of the U.S. Armed Forces from unfair enforcement of certain civil obligations so they can better focus their attention and energy to national defense.
Key features of the SCRA include a 6% interest rate cap on loans initiated prior to active duty, and protections for foreclosures, liens, and certain legal proceedings.
Covered individuals:
If you fall within any of these categories you may qualify for SCRA benefits.
- Full-time servicemembers
- All branches of the military (Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Space Force, Air Force, and Coast Guard)
- National Guard with qualifying federal active service*
- Commissioned officers of the Public Health Service or the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration called to active service

How do I invoke SCRA?
Please complete the below online form to submit it to the NGFCU Loan Servicing Department. Or, you can download and print a hard copy to submit it by mail or at a branch:

We will review the information provided and will contact you should additional documentation be required to assist you with your request for SCRA benefits.

*National Guard may be eligible for SCRA benefits when the service is commissioned by the President or the Department of Defense in response to a federally-funded and President-declared emergency that lasts for more than 30 consecutive days.
